Even though there are 3 other puppies in the play area, We know who we belong to and who our siblings are.  We dearly love to stick together except of course when we are playing and exploring; then it's every pup for himself and watch out for the wolf in us!  Ha Ha just kidding!

A sweet circle of pups.  We can't get any cosier!  One of our bunch is missing.... where could he be?
Aha!

We are 4 weeks old already and full of mischief.  Mommy has lots of fun watching us play.  We are trying to decide who is the boss, by wrestling, also our teeth are coming in. Sometimes when we bite each other it hurts.  That is how we learn to be gentle.

CHOW TIME
Mommy's food is starting to taste good!
Age:26 days

This puppy was born BLUE.  Since he is a sable pattern-that means he would have only tips of black on some hair-he has blue grey tips instead of black and  grey nose and eye rims.  His eyes are a lighter color looking blue for the moment, but could change to light brown later.  Born Blue is not a mutation or a disease, but is caused by inheriting a recessive color gene from both parents the way humans inherit blue eyes.  These recessives have been present for centuries, but only show up if there is a chance meeting of two d(dilute)genes.  This does not mean that this puppy will have any health issues.  He is strong and well formed and maturing nicely.  His name is Joyaseda's Cobalt.  Watch for him in the show ring later this year.  The dilute gene affects the eumelanin expression and also the phaeomelanin.,  therefore the reddish coat he is sporting will be a darker red in any of his non dilute offspring.

All 7 of us in a great cosy pile.

Just three weeks old and already exploring and making his voice heard.  Great things are expected from this little "Blue" havanese.

We are 3 weeks old today and full of life.  Mommy was trying for a picture, but we didn't want to co-operate, so here are three.  Hope you can see us well enough.

It turns out that the funny different color at birth is caused by the dilute gene.  We have 2 puppies in this litter that have double dilute making them "blue".  Their eyes will be a lighter color and the nose and leather pigment will be
grey-blue.  This is still a very rare color especially the sables.
The top boy is red-gold/blue sable,
the second is red-gold Irish Pied/blue sable
and the bottom boy is red/sable with black pigment.

All this picture taking is such a bore.  We were having a lovely snooze just now; our tummies are full and the chores done. Can't Mommy see that we just want to sleep and g row?

Remember that muddy messy puppy a few days ago?  Well I had my bath and now I am clean and fluffy.  I am so pleased with myself, because I am a BOY and there are girls around here! I am the best stud muffin, that is why they call me E. Humperdynk.  The other guys here just don't have it!  I make sure the girls are mine so I mark on their backs.  That way the other boys know what's what!!  Too bad Mommy is keeping us separate; two of the girls smell so yummy it drives me wild.

We are not only sharing the space we are now sharing the puppies and the chores. The furnace broke down yesterday so it was cool in the house. Mommy hung a heating lamp over the nest.  Soon we were all snug and cosy with the heating pad under the quilt and the lamp above.  Even if the house was 14 degrees; we were toasty.
I am safe and cozy and warm with my Mommy and brothers and my tummy is full; nothing could be better in my little world.

I just had a bath and my mommy is drying and brushing me.  They should call me Fuffy Puppy.  I don't complain much, but I don't like anyone brushing my back end. Havanese breeders have all kinds of tricks;  see the wide strap Mommy uses to hold me up so she can finish the job easily?  My real name is Laffy Taffy and I was golden as a puppy. Like most havanese I went through a color change.  You can't see it in the picture, but my roots are golden so I am changing back to my baby color now at 14 months old.

We moms are still sharing the puppy "Hotel".  We really don't mind sharing.  we can help each other if there is a problem with a pup and we keep a close eye that no one does anything to our little ones.  They are getting so fat and beautiful and yummy smelling.  One of the humans keeps nibbling on them. We let him know we don't approve too much.

I, the Lady Esmeralda, am officially in season.  I went out today to meet my boyfriend and when he tried to greet me I plunked my rear end down and told him in no uncertain terms that I was not yet receiving his advances.  He made his mark on My Mommy's boot and his mommy was highly embarassed.  Humans just don't understand;  I thought he was very cute and in a week or so we will have a great time.  Oh by the way his name is Joyaseda's Punky Brewster and he is  a Champion with a great big blue Best Puppy in Show ribbon as well as Group 2.  Our babies will be the cutist and small too, for those who like smaller Havanese. Only the most special people will get one of my children to love.

We had so much fun playing in the mud today!!.  The snow is gone and temperatures are between 6 and 10 C.  Lovely for Canadian winter.  Mommy has just a little grooming ahead of her.  Ha. Ha.

I am being really good, see how wide my eyes are open.  I am listening and watching carefully what Mommy says.  Something unmentionable happened outside and I was ashamed so I hid my backside in the corner.  ( It hardly ever happens inspite of all my hair) Mommy saw me right away and popped me into the big bathtub to rinse the evidence away.  In a minute she will take me out and get me dry and comfortable again.  I love her.

I would say "The picture speaks for itself!"
