This puppy was born BLUE.  Since he is a sable pattern-that means he would have only tips of black on some hair-he has blue grey tips instead of black and  grey nose and eye rims.  His eyes are a lighter color looking blue for the moment, but could change to light brown later.  Born Blue is not a mutation or a disease, but is caused by inheriting a recessive color gene from both parents the way humans inherit blue eyes.  These recessives have been present for centuries, but only show up if there is a chance meeting of two d(dilute)genes.  This does not mean that this puppy will have any health issues.  He is strong and well formed and maturing nicely.  His name is Joyaseda's Cobalt.  Watch for him in the show ring later this year.  The dilute gene affects the eumelanin expression and also the phaeomelanin.,  therefore the reddish coat he is sporting will be a darker red in any of his non dilute offspring.
